So I have the correct voltage now (18). Did a full reset. Camera comes up and goes through the whole setup process ok but when it gets to the part where it wants to test the door chime and asks for traditional or digital, I just get the spinning circle and it never gets any further. If I just click continue, it goes back to the start of the setup again and I have to go through it all over again.
My doorbell chime is connected directly to the transformer and I have the power kit set to the 0 setting (not X).
Anyone have any ideas?

You might need support on this one.
What model chime?

Its an older Nutone. One other thing, I clicked on continue while waiting for the spinning circle to go away and I got a notification saying the camera setup was complete. But, it never actually gets setup and starts over with the process.
The weird thing is this door chime worked for a while with the Arlo. I only ran into issues after a firmware update a few months ago. Thats also when I started having the power issues.

The door chime looks identical to this one.

FWIW, my older Nutone (an LA-12) works well.
I did run into an issue with an older transformer that was in-spec - not sure exactly what the problem was, but swapping it out with a new one fixed it.
The symptoms didn't match yours though. In my case the system worked w/o the power module, but not with it. But there is of course some risk in long-term damage to the chime or doorbell, so I'm glad Arlo was able to sort it out.

Just to clarify - it won't let you skip the test?

Sort of. It will let me continue, and it then it says its done but the device never shows up in my list of devices in the Arlo app and if I click on the doorbell button on the camera, the circle flashes white as if its waiting to be setup from scratch and I have to start all over.

I think you'll need to contact support.

@Hss55 Following, so that I can ensure your issue gets resolved. Arlo Support should be able to get your sorted out.
A couple of suggestions, if you haven't tried it already:
1. Try factory resetting the Video Doorbell
- While powered on, press and hold the reset button on the back for 15+ seconds, should see the front LEDs flash, and then return to solid white after another 20 seconds.
2. If you don't have any other Arlo devices, you could try setting up a new account with a different email. If you were already an Arlo customer with other devices on your account, send me a DM with your account email so we can check your account settings.
After resetting and/or creating a new account, you can try the onboarding process one more time. Try giving the final chime test some time to load and see if it populates.
Out of curiosity, which phone model are you using?

Hi. Still trying to figure out some issues with my AVD1001. I'm not sure what they mean when they say 16-24V AC and 10VA? I have a multimeter and checked the voltage coming from my transformer and its 18V, but how do I figure out the 10VA part?

Hi. I replaced the transformer with a brand new one (old one was probably 30+ years old) and its all good now. Should have just bit the bullet and did that in the first place but I don't like messing around with the electrical stuff. 🙄 One interesting thing I noticed, it now gives the option to connect directly to my Arlo Basestation. Didn't do that before.
