Just installed this doorbell with ease.  The box and emails I get say the video doorbell comes with a 3 month trial subscription of Arlo Smart.  No idea how to redeem/start this.  When I go to subscriptions under my account, it just looks like it will start billing me immediately.  Video recording under settings is currently "grayed out", so it obviously hasn't started automatically.

The free trial subscription should have automatically applied when you set up your Arlo Video Doorbell for the first time.

 

Is this the very first time the doorbell has been set up? Was this a brand new doorbell?

Yes, this the first time I set it up, and yes, I bought it new from a national big-box electronics retailer.

There is no code or interaction on your part to start the free trial. When the doorbell is installed, the trial applies to your account automatically. If this did not occur, please contact the support team to further investigate this issue: Arlo Support Team
