How durable is this doorbell in direct sunlight? I live in Texas, and my door faces west with no shade. During the summer, the door can become too hot to touch. Has anyone installed one of these in similar circumstances? How well did the doorbell handle it? Does the plastic dry out and crack?

It's too early to say how the doorbell will survive in those conditions. The specs say up to 113F and other Arlo cameras with the same spec have survived, apparently fine. One thing that has happened is the device getting too hot and displaying a message that it has to cool down before use. I think that tends to occur around 120F (not sure how that was determined).
Guess you're the guinea pig...
