We recently got this doorbell and we are not getting library videos from past dates. I understand they only keep them for so long but I had them for a good 2 months now I can’t even look at yesterday’s. I got told when buying that I didn’t need a subscription.

Nope, you need a subscription. If you have a supported base or hub that the doorbell is connected to you can record to local storage (USB drive) and use the app to see them. I would consider the VMB4540 hub for this.
