I spent wayyyy too long (over 6 hours one day) talking to Arlo support, trying to research this forum board, and research on my own to figure out this silly installation for the video doorbell to work.

My husband installed the video doorbell (physical parts), but it would never connect to the base or read a QR code.  I made my own QR codes, turned my wifi 5Ghz off, and on and on.  I was so frustrated. Nothing worked and the Arlo rep told me to call my internet provider as it was my 5G channel.

The next day my husband gave it one more shot before uninstalling and returning.  He called support and talked to a knowledgeable rep this time and we got it to work.  In all this is what we did:

Turned of 5Ghz wifi (netgear router)  Rep said this didn't matter.

On my iphone, turned off CELLULAR DATA!  This was KEY!!  (Go to settings, cellular, swipe off)  The doorbell only works when this is OFF.

Reset doorbell between two wires.

Went through install prompts again, without using the Smart Hub.  (Only way it would connect).

Worked perfect and continues to.

I sure hopes this helps someone else.

This is helpful. I need to get to that point. Still trying to get the doorbell to power up. (currently have intercom doorbell with not enough power for doorbell to work) I appreciate your tenacity with the Arlo Tech support team. It’s challenging!

There are plug-in transformers you can buy for this purpose - I have one. Just verify the power specs but most, if not all, should work fine rather than trying to get an intercom to somehow provide power.
