Hi all,
Greetings. I bought an Arlo Video Wired Doorbell 10 days back. I am unable to get the Arlo App find the doorbell.
I have tried at least 5 times to connect...all the steps go well....(i see white flashing lights, properly scans the QR code from my phone, chimes immediately, ...but, when trying to locate the doorbell, it takes about 3-5 minutes and gives up...saying it cannot find it).
The Arlo Doorbell connects to my 2.4GHz wifi networks. I can see it being connected from my Wifi-Router UI config with max signal strength.. It shows up as AVD1001 (name) on the correct SSID. My Android phone is also using the same SSID. My android phone (Pixel 3a) is up to date with its software version. Arlo App is the latest downloaded from Google Play. The phone, wifi-router and doorbell are all within 5 feet of each other.
Below are are the stuff I had gone through. I would appreciate if anyone had the same issue and managed to resolve it.
- I have Andoid phone (Pixel 3a)
- Wifi is 2.4GHz. Bluetooth is disabled.
- Wifi Router is AT&T Motorola BGW210-700
- Internet speed is pretty good : 300 Mbps up and down.
- No obstruction. Signal Strength is -46dBm
More troubleshooting that I did:
1. I disconnected from all networks, uninstalled Arlo App and reinstalled on my Google Pixel 3a phone.
2. I power-cycled the Arlo Wired Doorbell. Did a factory reset as well.
3. I created a mobile hotspot (with my wife's Google Pixel 3a) => with simple SSID and simple password with no special chars.
4. The hotspot was in 2.4 GHz.
5. I went through the on boarding process on the Arlo App. I observed the same issue => Arlo App fails to detect my doorbell.
6. Doorbell, wifi-router, hotspot phone, my android-phone with Arlo App...all were within 5 feet of each other.
Not sure why Arlo app is not finding the device and pairing. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks,
Sri.

I am facing the same problem as a lot of previous Chime 2 customers have provided. Unable to install it. The Chime tries to connect to a self-generated WiFi network (Arlo_8422) and after a minute or two, gives up. I have reset the Chime several times and still the same issue. Apparently, Arlo_8422 SSID needs a password too...which I do not have. So, I select my network SSID and password and that fails. Not sure how to install it.
- Android phone (Pixel 3a)
- 2.4 GHz, very good signal strength.
- I have a Arlo Wired Doorbell. I go to settings, devices -> doorbell -> pair a device and proceed along.
Any help anybody?
Thanks,
Sri.

Also, the Chime 2, Video Wired Doorbell, my wifi-router and my phone are all within 10 feet of each other while attempting to install.

s520,
Is there anything non-standard about your network? Are you using any vpn services?

Wired Doorbell issue solved: I use Google Fi with VPN. Once I disabled Google Fi particularly for Arlo App, the app was able to detect the wired-doorbell. And all is well with respect to that.
As for the Chime-2, no progress. I am going to return it.

s520,
You should be able to connect to the temporary network and then you will be asked for your home network information, which is the SSID/Password you're using for your home network. To connect to the temporary network in the first step, your mobile device may need to be quite close to the Chime 2, within a few feet. There is no password for this, it should connect automatically.
