can I wire to my existing doorbell wiring which has a transformer 6VA, 6v, 50Hz, IP20, or will I need to replace this transformer?. Will it damage the doorbell if I do connect it up?

Neither doorbell model (AVD1001 nor the AVD2001) are spec'd for 6 volts. Per their manuals, the AVD1001 needs at least 16 volts, and the AVD2001 needs at least 8.
No idea if the low voltage will cause damage or not.
