My Arlo works as directed but when the doorbell is pushed it does not make a sound in the house.

Do you mean your traditional chime is not ringing?  Or do you have an Arlo chime?

What doorbell model do you have installed?  

Is this a new installation, or is this a problem that just started with an old installation?

Is there something in the sitting to change. My wife was changing sitting and now traditional door chime does not work when arlo doorbell is pushed.

There is a silence mode in the doorbell settings that does let you disable the chime (and also disable the phone call when the doorbell rings).

So check that.
