The last few months i have noticed my doorbell is not picking up alot of “visitors” coming to my door, this afternoon i had private mail with valuable information that had been opened and put under my door but my camera didn’t detect anybody coming or going! When i try to login to my camera to view outside if i hear something it half the time will not connect. Living by myself as a single mother i need something i can TRUST and I’m about to change to a different brand and cancel my subscription.

t's possible that the person came to the door from completely to the side rather than the normal more or less straight on. You may need to test to see how it works best for your needs. Increasing motion sensitivity in your modes and rules could also help if that doesn't cause excessive false triggers from cars passing by. If someone is "sneaking" to avoid the camera a second camera may be useful (I have both a doorbell and a regular camera monitoring my porch so if one misses the other will capture).

I happen to have almost all of my cameras connected via a hub which allows me to use local recordings for backup. Since Smart can delete "unimportant" videos based on your settings, the local recordings are useful to verify whether a recording actually took place. If you don't want to do this, disable Smart on your doorbell so ALL recordings show in your library - nothing will be deleted.

FWIW, I've had mail delivered that appeared to have been opened. Nothing important but it appeared to me that it was likely the USPS machines that mangled it somehow rather than an employee opening it. Can't prove it either way. In your case, minus video proof, it's possible the mailman noted the issue and delivered it to help protect it - a conversation with him/her may be useful.
