Doorbell battery life is ridiculous

We've had the doorbell since black Friday and have to recharge every 4-5 days.  This is a small house and the doorbell is about 16 ft. from the router. What a waste of money.

Have you tried troubleshooting the issue? Distance isn't the only issue - the total number of minutes per day of recording and live viewing with <5 minutes per day being the spec, house construction (brick, stone and stucco causing signal degradation), 2.4GHz wireless devices nearby interfering with the signal, etc. all gets in there.
