Just bought a wire free doorbell with chime 2, records when the doorbell is pushed but doesn't record just motion detection. I purchased this doorbell as a deterrent to bullies that are targeting my son and our.prioerty but I'm assuming they aren't going to ring the doorbell before doing anything. Therefore it's a waste of time and money.

Actually it should be recording motion. Have you tried the motion detection test?
The range of motion detection is fairly short with your doorbell (spec'd at 3 meters).
