I've tried numerous times to reset and reinstall my Wireless doorbell 2nd gen AVD4001 and trying to connect this to the base station VMB4540, but keep getting the error that it can't find the device in the system. Error code 4201.

I'm able to see the option to connect the doorbell to the smart hub or the WiFi during setup. The WiFi option works no issue but every time I try connecting to the smart hub base, it just keeps timing out while trying to find the device in the system.

Is the doorbell just faulty?

Any help would be appreciated.

When you connected to WiFi, did the firmware update? It should be on 1.5.1_1133 according to https://community.arlo.com/t5/Firmware-Release-Notes/Arlo-Firmware-Release-Table/m-p/1920885#M791

The latest firmware is needed to be able to connect to a hub. You can also try rebooting the hub to see if that helps.

Yes, the latest firmware is 1.5.1_1133_0b22604 for the doorbell. Have rebooted the hub also and that has the latest firmware too (1.25.1.0_1687_1f1c874).  Still no joy.

Thhat error code may be the issue since I don't believe it's normally displayed upon failure. Assuming you have a subscription, use the app to go to Settings, Support to see what official support may offer.
