I’ve recently purchased a Gen 2 Arlo doorbell and have been impressed with it so far, however, I have noticed a quirk.
I have the Arlo app on my work and personal iPhones and was testing something out with the video call on both devices. I noticed that if you have turn Airplane mode on an iPhone and someone rings the doorbell, once airplane mode is turned off that video call will still come through. And if you try to accept it, the iPhone tries to load the display but then it cuts out because the video call request no longer exists.
It’s almost like the app caches the video call and waits until the iPhone is connected again to pass the call through. This happens even if the call is accepted on another iPhone that is connected.
I am not sure if this is the same on Android, would be good to test, but it is some odd coding to have the call cached when no connectivity is available and then to try and pass it through when connectivity is restored (which could be hours), whereby chances are the person at the doorbell has most likely gone!
