My new video doorbell will not detect vehicles or pets

My new video doorbell will not detect vehicles or pets and only detects people when they are within a few of it.  I tried the settings and still not working.

How far away are the vehicles?  How large are the pets, and how close are they to the doorbell?

The spec'd detection range is 4m (13 feet).  While it will detect vehicles from farther away, it won't do that reliably.
