How ro leave the house

How do people keep Arlo from triggering when they leave the house? Use "Standby" , go outside then "Arm Home"?

Check your Arm Away mode. At the top is an exit delay which you can configure.

That's useful if I'm really away, butI'm thinking of a different use case. I don't want the device to activate when I go out to the garage and come back in.

Then pressing standby should prevent that.
