@JamesC please provide an update.  It is October, we are now in the 4th quarter of 2024, and we have not seen an update related to this since March.

The firmware to allow 2nd generation devices to connect to Base Stations/Smarthubs is currently being tested for full release. This is the initial requirement to allow Apple Home integration to take place. We expect this phase of the release to be completed soon, allowing users to connect 2nd generation devices to their Base station/Smarthubs. Apple Home compatibility is expected to follow after Base station/SmartHub integration is complete.

I will provide more information as it becomes available.

Appreciate the update, thank you. Would rather it be released right and not rushed so take the time to get it right.

what’s the testing timeline another year? How many more hundreds of dollars do you want milk out of my bank account before I have a feature that was advertised to me?

Is there a signup for an email or a notification when HomeKit becomes available for the Video Doorbell 2nd Generation?

porchland,

No. We will however make an announcement here on the community once Apple Home integration is available.

Mockey1982,

Now that Base Station/SmartHub compatibility is available for 2nd generation devices, we expect Apple Home certification to be available soon. Stay tuned for an announcement on arlo.com and here on the community once this integration is made available.

I reinstalled my Video Doorbell today, and it connected to my SmartHub 4540 no problem.

Will the SmartHub push the Video Doorbell to Apple Home automatically when Apple certifies the Video Doorbell, or will I need to add/reinstall it?

Hi James

When will the update be rolled out to allow my Video Doorbell 2nd Generation to be connected to my Apple Home App?

Regards

Raymond

@JamesC, will this thread be updated once the 2nd gen doorbell is updated to work with Apple Home Kit or where on the Community will it be updated?

@JamesC, I added my v2 doorbells to my Arlo hub.  Easy peasy.  Any ETA on the HomeKit integration?  I think all of our understanding was that this was expected in 2024.  My original post on this topic was March of 2024.

So how long has it been now since we could put these doorbells on our base unit? I just found out about it several days ago.

@corneileous, I believe since early in December.

Hopefully the HomeKit integration is rolled out before the price increase takes effect... otherwise we'll know where Arlo's priorities lie.

@arlo_nut

Oh, well that’s not too bad then. I was thinking this was like two or three months ago they did this and I’m just now finding out about it…LOL.

It would sure be nice, that’s for sure. I mean, I know that Apple can be hard to deal with sometimes, but I really don’t understand why this couldn’t have been done when they released these things or why it’s even still taking as long as it has but again, what do I know?

Sadly after switching my video doorbell from Wi-Fi to my SmartHub, all video feeds recorded from my doorbell now only display a blank screen! The live stream works however. Support has no clue on why this has happened.

An Update: The recordings play back as expected when manually made, but not when triggered by motion.

A final update: it is now working! All recorded videos, both manual and triggered, now play properly.
