Video Doorbells

Currently using 2 Arlo Ultra cameras with the VMB5000 and local storage with NO PLAN. Can I add a Video Doorbell to this set up? Use the audio/video doorbell and have the videos stored & viewed locally, WITHOUT A PLAN.

yes, you can.  I have 3x ultra 2 cameras and a VMB5000, local storage and NO subscription.

I have recently added a 2nd gen video doorbell, for local recording.

Few things worth noticing:

1. initial installation will NOT connect the doorbell to the smarthub (wifi internet connection though).  It needs to be firmware updated before it has the capability to be connected to the VMB5000 instead.  (I remember using an ARLO article on this.  @ShayneS ?)
2. As "usual", the installation will annoyingly force you to "enjoy" the trial subscription.  I'd suggest cross checking to see local recording (and whatever non-subscription feature you are expecting) is working fine for you.

Thanks Alex. Question about the doorbell camera. Does it pick up every car that passes in front of you house. Can it be set to eliminate this and just pick up the entry?

The newest doorbells have a spec'd range of 4m (~13 feet).  But they can sometimes pick up vehicles that are farther away (particularly trucks).

You can reduce the motion sensitivity.  That might result in not reliably picking up people that approach the door, but you'd get calls (and chimes if you have the Arlo chime or a traditional chime) when people push the bell - even if you disable motion detection altogether.

Don't think I am the best person to ask.  my doorbell CANNOT see traffic/cars from road.  It can only see people really approaching my door.

So my best answer is: I don't know.

My AVD1001 does  - and I do see quite a few vehicle recordings - but not every single vehicle.

But that is no longer sold, and the new ones have a much shorter motion detection range.
