I have 2 Ultras, 2 Ultra 2s, a door cam and a Smart Hub.

The manual recording button only shows on ONE of the cameras using the Android App. I read the support link at https://kb.arlo.com/000062734/How-to-create-a-manual-video-recording-with-an-Arlo-camera
But no amount of tapping brings me a record button. In the center of the screen where the button should be, there is a mic icon that doesn't move.
This happens on 1 Ultra and both Ultra 2s.
Does anyone know if I've missed a setting somewhere that blocks the record button?

4K manual recordings/snapshots have never been available for Ultra cameras. This is a product limitation. You can read more about this here: https://kb.arlo.com/000062127/How-do-I-stream-in-4K-with-my-Arlo-Ultra-camera

To make a manual recording on the Ultras you need two things:

  1. 4K livestreaming needs to be disabled
  2. You need a subscription for the cameras.

Ugh.  So I upgraded to the 4k Subscription because the quality IS awesome.....and that upgrade did away with my ability to record manually?  That's a big disappointment.

Anyone at Arlo on this site? Are there plans to correct this issue?

Hi James,

Thanks for the quick reply.  Two of these cameras are Ultra 2. Do they have the same restriction?

LynP,

Yes, both Ultra and Ultra 2 have this limitation. An easy way to manage this without adjusting Arlo settings is to turn off your WiFi connection when using your mobile device. This will force the device to use mobile data (where 4K live streaming is not available) and allow for snapshots and manual recordings to take place.

To clarify this: You will get 4K recording even if you turn off 4K livestreaming

IMO, 4K livestreaming isn't that useful anyway, since most most mobile screens are pretty small.  And Arlo will only stream 1080p to a browser even if 4K livestreaming is enabled.
