New system hub will not connect

Hi all, received my system today. 1 camera and smart hub. Went through the set up process and after 3 hours have given up. No matter what I do I cannot get the hub connected to internet.
I have a deco mesh system connected into a virgin media hub I’m modem only mode.
Have connected the Arlo hub direct into the main deco hub and even directly into the virgin hub. Tried rebooting resetting different Ethernet cables and every trouble shooting step I could find. Whatever I do the led light on the hub ends up flashing amber.
any help greatly appreciated
