Long time user, issue reappeared.

Years ago on Chrome I had to download a video in my library to view, it hasn't been the case for a few years now.

As of last week, my Ultra cam recordings require me to download the video rather than simply access from web browser.

what has changed?

Is hardware acceleration still enabled in the browser?

What processor is in the PC?  (Right-clicking on "this pc" will give this information.  Please post the full chip part number).

I've made literally 0 changes to the computer in that timespan.

to answer tho:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz 4.20 GHz

and yes, Acceleration enabled

Other change I've noticed is the 2k/4k symbol on the thumbnail, feel like i haven't seen that in awhile

7th generation, so it should have HEVC hardware decoding support

Can you see the video here?

You should see "hvc1" displayed on the video during playback.  Don't switch to the default settings on this page, just click on the "play" icon on the video.

No. Just buffering blocks

Ok.  That confirms it is a general problem with HEVC playback with Chrome on that PC.  Odd, because it was working a short while ago.

Did you also try this with Edge?

I had the same problem with both Chrome and Edge.  The fix was as follows:

The problem is due to a driver installed by Microsoft.  Go to the Intel website and install the latest Intel driver, but DO NOT use the Clean Install option which completely removes the older drivers. If you use the Clean Install, when Microsoft discovers the older driver is missing, it reinstalls the problem driver and causes the issue to come back.
