Can I connect Arlo 4k Ultra directly with wifi router and not use base station?
I have a large outside area to cover?

No. You could use the Pro 4 (and Pro 3 Floodlight) instead. Both can connect to your home wifi. They are 2K (not 4K), but in practice there isn't a big dropoff. The field of view is a bit smaller, and neither have the wind noise reduction on the audio. But overall they are a reasonable substitution for the Ultra/Ultra 2.
Note that you will need a paid subscription for cloud storage, and local storage isn't possible w/o a base station.

Yes there is a way but as @StephenB said you need a subscription for cloud storage for recordings
