Hi.  I am not properly understanding how the Hub can be used.  Is it possible to insert a memory card into the hub and for footage to be stored to this?  Does this mean, you can't review the stored footage if it's on the hub via the app?  Instead you'd need to insert the memory card into a laptop to review?  Does this mean then that I can reduce our subscription to not be saving?

Our situation is that we are using the cameras for our shop.  We therefore need continuous recording during our opening hours but this would cost us £10.99 x 4 = £43.96 a month, which we obviously don't want to pay.  If we could have recordings accessible on the hub, then we could turn off the recording in the cloud, but I'm not sure if it works this way.  Can someone help me with this?

Starting here, the smarthub does not offer continuous recording.  You can only store motion-triggered or audio-triggered recordings.

The VMB4540 and VMB5000 smarthub will both let you access recordings from the app.

Restrictions include:

  • recordings are only available from the app, not your browser
  • recordings are only available from the primary account (not friend accounts)
  • you cannot make manual recordings or store snapshots
  • there are no thumbnails, you need to download each video to your phone to see anything
  • remote access requires router setting changes that many find difficult - and which don't work with some internet service providers.
