2 Arlo SmartHub Add‑On VMB5000 - no pairing with master

Subject: Cannot pair Arlo SmartHub Add‑Ons (VMB5000) to SmartHub 4540 – Request for firmware/claim assistance

Hello Arlo Support,

I have an Arlo SmartHub 4540 (firmware 1.27.0.0_1931_03495c2, current hardware revision) correctly connected via Ethernet/Powerline to my Fritz!Box and shown as online (steady blue LED). I am attempting to pair two Arlo SmartHub Add‑On VMB5000 bridges, but both remain in amber flashing mode and the pairing wizard (both the Arlo mobile app and my.arlo.com) never discovers them, returning “Your base station could not be discovered” or timeout errors.

Device details:

  • SmartHub 4540

    • Firmware: 1.27.0.0_1931_03495c2

    • Local IP: 192.168.188.22

  • VMB5000 #1

    • MAC: FC9FC98C19FF7     S/N  A6G4477UD0566

  • VMB5000 #2

    • MAC: FC9C98C1AA11    S/N A6G4477ED08C4

Steps already attempted:

  1. Factory reset of both VMB5000 (Sync 15 s until rapid amber flash).

  2. Proximity pairing (< 3 m) with the SmartHub.

  3. Pairing attempts via Android 13 & iOS Arlo app (latest version).

  4. Pairing attempts via Arlo web portal my.arlo.com.

  5. Disabled VPN Express on the phone.

  6. Disabled client isolation, WPS, IPv6 and IGMP Snooping on router Fritz!Box 7590 AX.

  7. Verified SmartHub Internet connectivity (ping, steady blue LED).

Despite all this, the VMB5000 never switch to a steady green LED and never appear under Devices → Accessories. I kindly request:

  • Remote verification of my SmartHub and Add‑On bridges firmware status.

  • Manual “claim” of my SmartHub 4540 on the Arlo cloud, if possible.

  • Forcing a firmware downgrade/upgrade to resolve any mismatch.

  • Any other support or instructions to finally enable the pairing.

I am available to provide additional logs or perform live troubleshooting as needed. Thank you for your assistance.
