Hi, Community.
Unfortunately, someone broke in my vehicle on the street at 4AM. I have an Arlo Ultra 2 which was told to be the top rated security camera arlo has to offer. Well the camera is about 30ft away from crime scene and you can barely see anyone and I do pay for CVR. My neighbor from across the street who is a bit further up the street has a Wyze v3 camera setup. Keep in mind, his camera is positioned about 80ft from the crime scene.
Well it was a big difference in his view because we were able to pickup the descriptions of the criminals, a license plate, the weapon used, etc. His Wyze camera was crystal clear compared to my Ultra 2.
Why am I paying for monthly subscription, high priced cameras when a $30 Wyze camera can run circles around a top class Arlo Ultra 2 camera? Also, to search for the time of the crime, Wyze offers a fast forward option, unlike Arlo, where I had to sit and try to skim through 5hrs of video. I am on the fences about Arlo. Can I know what everyone is thinking? I loved Arlo in the beginning but I feel smaller brands are out beating a large company like Arlo and are sitting back not trying to keep up with the times.
And does anyone know of an new Arlo camera coming out that can beat out the clarity of Wyze or any competitor before I switch. I am trying to avoid changing out system but for the security and peace of mind for my property, I think it's necessary.

Management at Arlo made decisions to compress the images and also to reduce frame rate. The effect is that footage is of a significantly lower quality and, in some cases, even more degraded than at the start (for example, Pro 2).
Arlo is now going the AI route, but if to choose whether to have AI or better footage quality, I believe most would choose the latter. They were more competitive 10 years ago, but now the situation is different, with the market more crowded.

You'd think that BECAUSE the market is more crowded that Arlo would at least TRY to stand out with better quality than others. Just sayin'...

I so agree with you. They had a head start before all these smaller companies. There's no excuse for Arlo falling behind the competition pertaining to quality.
