I have four cameras on my big house. I realize the Internet connection can be spotty and may drop the camera for a second but I always seem to get notifications. Just today I started getting notifications for cameras going offline immediately followed by being back online. This now gives me dozens of extra notifications and I can't figure out how to turn this one aspect off. I already get a dozen notifications because stray cats walk by constantly. I don't need more useless notifications. I used to get a notification when off for an extended time. Whatever recently changed is annoying.

We have released a backend update that should have resolved the Offline/Online notifications. Please let me know if you experience any issues.

It appears to be a backend change since the apps and firmware haven't changed. At the moment, there isn't a way to stop the notifications other than to shut off all notifications in the phone settings for the app. If you do that, use email notifications for recordings.

Hello. This really isn’t any sort of a fix. It’s just a work a round. Have you logged this as an issue with any priority? It needs to be corrected ASAP. We are paying customers to this service and aren’t really receiving the best product, assistance or advice. Please update us with the status of this issue and when we can expect it to be resolved properly. Thanks.

@jguerdat doesn't work for Arlo (neither do I).  So we have no special knowledge of the status and expected resolution.

How do I make that request. I can't take getting 100 unless notifications a day. Turning off notifications makes the whole system useless. Not sure why this suddenly started after a year.

(StephenB - Superuser and GURU)…. But you cannot provide us with an update or status of an obvious system issue which has been acknowledged by @jguerdat. How disappointing. Can you tell us if this has been logged so it can be corrected at least?

I am having this same issue. Just suddenly started this week. Constant notifications that camera is offline, then camera is online. I have 6 cameras and they are all doing this. Very frustrating!

Arlo knows about it - I raised it with @JamesC 

 

But again, neither @jguerdat nor I work for Arlo.  Superusers don't have any special access to their bug lists, etc.  We found about the issue the same way you did.

I called customer service and was notified that it is a recently added feature based on customer requests. Since it is new they are still tweaking it, but at the moment there is no way to turn them off. While I can see the value, it is crazy that already today I have received 110 notifications. I sure hope they resolve this quickly because it is making my cameras useless for timely notifications. I am already tiree of random cats and vehicle notifications of my long parked car.

This needs to be fixed, new base feature needs to revert back to the previous state, it’s not working, don’t use your customers for beta testing get it working correctly before rolling out new features.

Agreed. She noted my problem and I said others online were having the same issues. Folks should call customer service to comment about it.

I am getting the same alerts from multiple cameras. This needs a fix better than “turn off notifications”, might as well turn off the cameras. “Turning on email notifications” is not an acceptable workaround. Several hundred useless emails a day is why we filter junk mail. Maybe arlo needs to rollback to previous build on the backend?
