For those struggling to get Friend Sharing working, just a few tips below that might help you! Was an absolute pain and very frustrating when following the instructions doesn’t work.
PROBLEM:
I followed ARLO’s instructions to add a friend and grant them access. But person I was sharing with had also followed the ARLO instructions to setup their own account with email invitation and link. However shared cameras did not appear on their account once they logged in. I also kept seeing the invitation in the ARLO App as PENDING (as if they hadn’t done it or we were waiting for ARLO or somebody to process it).
I believe and suspect that them joining (for the first time) to your shared cameras via the ARLO App does not work or is not syncing to your primary account. Best to do it all within the web browser and on the ARLO website and not through the App.
SOLUTION STEPS:
1) FIRST get the friend, family member to create their own account on the ARLO website. Make sure they check their email to then activate their ARLO account.
2) Then go into ARLO app on your Phone to SETTINGS (bottom left hand corner) and in GRANT ACCESS add their email address and cameras you want to share.
3) ARLO invitation email will be sent to them. Tell them to click on the link using a computer and not via their phone. Then they enter their ARLO account details to login. Then the cameras should automatically appear on their account.
4) They should NOT use the ARLO App to login for the first time using your JOIN link within your invitation email. This includes any prompt or messages that might appear on their phone to continue the login or join process via the ARLO app.
NOTE: You will know the join and sharing was successful if once they’ve logged in using your link, the shared cameras will automatically appear on screen. There should be no need for them to add and setup the whole base system and cameras again. That actually means it didn’t work, if all they can see and do is ADD NEW DEVICE.
When it works, you will also see that they no longer appear as PENDING in the GRANT ACCESS page, but as ACCEPTED on your phone.
