How can I get manual recording and snapshots from my VMC5040 cameras?  The menu for the cameras says that video clips and snapshots will be stored on the SD card (which I have) but there is no icon for manual video recording or snapshot for these cameras like there is on my VMC4030 cameras.

  • Do you have a subscription?  Manual recording and snapshots is a subscription feature.
  • Do you have 4K livestreaming enabled?  For some reason, you need to livestream at 1080p to make a manual recording or snapshot.

I do not have a subscription for the VMC5040 or the VMC4030 cameras. but I have the icons the VMC4030 and can manually record and snapshot from those cameras.

I tried to turn off the 4k streaming and still, the icons do not show.

You need both

  1. cloud storage
  2. streaming at 1080p or lower resolution

to get manual recordings.

The VMC4030 have 7-day cloud storage w/o a subscription and are 720p, so they meet both criteria.

The VMC5040 have no cloud storage w/o a subscription, so no manual recordings.
