- Can someone help me understand what Arlo is doing? I got this email about a plan update, that supposedly adds new features, but says I must accept the new plan by February 3, 2025 and if I fail to accept by February 3rd, I will have to pay a higher price.
- The issue is I paid for a year of service in advance, which doesn’t end until August 1, 2025.
Why would I pay 5 months early?
I am really concerned about this.- TIA for all suggestions.

I am wondering where the opt out option is myself. Have been unable to find any solution except cancel once they automatically upgrade my plan. It is honestly frustrating to have to babysit another prepaid service....

michele5389,
If you've already purchased an annual plan prior to the recent plan changes, you will not need to make any changes to your current plan and you will benefit from the new plan features listed here: https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlosecure.html

But what if I don't want these features? I was perfectly happy with the old plan and the old pricing. It appears that the only options are to (1) pay 50% more for features I don't intend to use; or (2) cancel the service.

I agree. This is bad decision that is extremely insensitive to customers in a subscription-oriented business model. My timeline:
-February 2024 - I buy hundreds of dollars in Arlo cameras.
-April 2024 - I purchase Arlo Secure for $150 for one year.
-January 2025 - Around eight to nine months later, Arlo announces a 40+% annual fee increase for features that I do not need, some of which aren't even available. Arlo offers a one year price lock, but only if I pay $100+ more now, before my first year subscription is complete.
Seriously? I'll stick around for a year and then leave. Would anyone trust a company that jacks up fees like this and removes choices from their customers? Astoundingly bad business practices.

James, I've tried contacting support and have ran into a dead end.
I recently received the email regarding the price changing, etc. I also received a discount code to use when signing up for the annual plan. When I signed up for the annual plan a few days ago, the website was having issues and now I have two problems: 1. I have been charged twice ($143 and $155) 2. I have no Arlo Secure Plan when I login, even though I have paid (twice apparently).

I currently pay a monthly plan rate of $12.99. The email I received stated that I can keep this rate only by paying for a year in advance, otherwise the rate will increase to $19.99 on 2/3/2025.
Yet when I sign in and look at my account, it shows my next payment due 2/15/2025 for $12.99.
Is the email correct or the online account?

@JamesC
I just upgraded to the Plus Unlimited Plan. The updated features shown in the "Arlo Plan Update"/"Arlo Secure 5" email upgrade offer include...
Privacy Zones
Hide specific areas in your camera’s view, adding an extra level of privacy for areas you do not want to monitor. |
...which is the one thing that I was particularly interested in.
I know that it does say "coming soon" (any idea when?) so I realize that I won't see it right away. My concern is the link that you provided earlier in this thread https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlosecure.html does not even mention this in the list of features (not even with a notation of "coming soon") so I'm concerned that it may no longer be "coming soon" or even worse, coming at all.
Perhaps you could shed some light on this.

KachinaShadow,
Privacy Zones are scheduled for release sometime this month, I do not have a specific date at this time but an announcement will be made here on the community and on arlo.com.
