Hi,
I'm unable to view locally stored videorecordings. App crashes everytime.
Tried reinstalling app, formatting microSD card.
All other things work except locally stored videorecordings.
They worked to watch, after press download in app for appr 3 weeks.

The symptom where viewing locally stored videos causing the app to crash should now be resolved with Arlo app version 5.4.2.
Please make sure you have the latest version of the Arlo app installed.

This symptom has been identified and a fix for this is coming soon. The update is in a slow roll out phase at the moment and looks to be completed soon.
Thank you for your patience

when I login to my account on the Arlo web site, immediately a window pops-up wanting me to purchase a subscription. I can close the window but have no access to any of local recordings.
Local recordings have never been accessible from the web site interface. That is one of several restrictions on direct access to local storage.
The app crashing appears to be a bug - widely reported here.

I can't download videos stored locally in the USB located on Arlo Base VMB4540. t
The app crashes every time I try to open any video. It began Thursday Jan 16rh 2025. Running app on Pixel 9 Pro with android 15.
I've reinstalled the app several times, reformatted USB, deleted all devices and paired them again but no resolution.

@HanSoloMumma wrote:I was experiencing this issue too, however seem to have gotten it working again.
Deleting and re-installing the app didn't seem to work, however... when I removed the USB drive from the base station, I plugged it into my laptop to view the recordings I was after. When I logged into my Arlo account via the Arlo site via the laptop, it told me I had to upgrade, so, I did.
After viewing the recordings I was interested in, I plugged the drive back into the base station.
I went back to my phone app, and it had updated to the new version I had just upgraded to on my laptop (magic!).
Viewing recordings is then done via the base station's 'Storage Settings' option. Navigate to the date you want via the Calendar icon on the top right of that screen.
so was it like you were not fine before the upgrade (where you saw "library" from the app), and then becoming fine AFTER the upgrade (with "feed" from the app)?

I uninstalled the Arlo app on my phone and reinstalled.
Then when I logged in to the web version it required an update as well.
Now I am able to access locally recorded storage on my phone again.
BUT, you must go under your base station and view them all at once in a big list. Disorganized.
The new app has some better features but the feed display of recorded video is not sorted
by camera just by time order of recordings. I want the recordings to be listed under the device
I select as before. They are all in a timeline under the hub. I can do it but I don't want to have to
visually sift to find the view I want.

The fast solution until a updated version with a fix for this has been made is a rollback as I see it.
I guess from Arlo.
Are there any APK from earlier versions?

Is the rollback app in playstore ?

This is Arlo again trying to force everyone to migrate to the newer "Feed" (non-Library) version of the app which is definitely not an upgrade but a watered down version of the "Library" version of the app. The point of this is to provide a worse user experience in an attempt to force users who don't have a subscription into purchasing a subscription as the "Feed" version of the app is garbage, worse than the "Library" version. Arlo's hope is that by forcing non-subscribing members into the newer and crappier version of the app, it will force them to pay for the subscription as that is the only way that the app is tolerable to use.

sounds like the issue is only with the "library" version of the latest app, NOT the "feed" version.
I am still sticking to my 5.3.3 "feed" version here. So far no issue with playing local recordings (no subscription here).
And I won't click that Google play update button (for anything newer).
Keen to hear from anyone with 5.4.0 "feed", and playing local recordings without issues (under no subscription)

I totally agree,
What they didn't think of though is that people are not idiots and that we will just throw thier **bleep** in the bin and go find a company that cares about it's customers (easier said than done these days 😞)
Arlo are crooks, I am going to boycott Arlo...
Piece of **bleep** products, I'm throwing them in the bin.
I'm unable to get the years of dealing with buggy software bad design and frustration and cost back from these crooks. Cya..

not via Google Play. Unless you can teach me how to extract my 5.3.3 here for sharing and manual installation.

I was thinking the same, but furious now.
Just forked out for x 3 new batteries, that came the day this started happening,so can't even test them out properly, apart from live streaming.
I do hope we are wrong, I can't even log in on the Web browser side of it,asks me to buy a subscription, don't think so.
At this rate will be like you, ditching the blasted doorbells, and camera's .
Sick of this,useless bricks now.

@alex_loo yes. I can now view everything I could before on the app now, just with the new user interface, which as others have stated, is complicated & rubbish.

I posted this in the forum back in July of 2024 regarding the new app forced upgrade and intentional deprecation and degradation in usability for non-subscription customers. I was promised a refund and I returned the newly purchased products and they still have not refunded the almost $500.00 they owe me.

That's shocking, my word how on earth can they do that .
And here I am annoyed about x 3 new batteries.
To be honest, sick of the cameras being off line most the time anyway, the black screen of death, and missing stuff happening
Think it's time for a hard wired upgrade, if that is the attitude from them they can get lost.
Sorry that has happened to you, just diabolical to treat customers like that.

I have same problem that started after the latest software update. My other android device works, it did not get the update. Seems like it is necessary to wait for next update, whenever that happens.
Too bad that the cameras do not work with other software.

You could try a side-load of 5.3.3. But that is risky (you have to trust that the apk download hasn't been hacked).
