Hi, everyone, I noticed today that every time one of my cameras gets triggered for the set length of time that I have another 20 second clip will randomly appear after it. Is this some weird botched update that is messing up the way Arlo records videos?

No.  The app has supported two user interfaces ("Feed" and "Library") for almost 2 years now.  Which interface you see depends on your account is set up in the Arlo Cloud

Then you do not have a "default mode" section in your camera settings.

You can control the recording duration in the camera rules in the mode(s) you are using.

If you're using the record until motion stops option try using a timed recording instead. The camera has to keep being able to detect motion to keep it recording with the first option. If that motion can't be detected but then starts again, the camera will start recording a second time.

It is on timed recording.  That's why it's very odd that it randomly started doing this recently.

Thhen it appears that the camera is having connection issues which will cause the current recording to stop. It could be a signal strength/quality issue caused by the specific house construction, other wireless devices near the camera causing interference, etc. Can you swap cameras around to see if the issue follows the camera or stays with the location? Otherwise, bring the camera closer to the hub temporarily to see if that improves the situation.

It will randomly do it with more than one camera, even the one closest to the base station.

It doesn't do it all the time.

Very odd.

What is the house construction? Brick, stone and stucco can be issues. Can you possibly identify any other device that could be active at the time the recording is short (I know, hard to do)?

It is paper thin wood that is so drafty the furnace runs overtime in the winter since there is no insulation.  It's not a large place.  Only one of the cameras is any real significant distance from the base station but even that one still has pretty good signal strength.

‘ If you're using the record until motion stops option try using a timed recording instead.’

Where are the settings for these? Something I can adjust in the app? I’ld like to double check mine…

my cameras always record 15/20sec clips - very annoying

@Dgmi

Click into the Settings for each camera, Default Mode Settings, and then you can adjust it from there.

Thank you @darkness975

I don’t see a defaultmode in the camera settings, but I’ll poke around some more. Appreciate it.

Do you see "Library" in your app menu?  Or do you instead see "Feed" and "Dashboard"?

The default mode settings are only in the "Feed" interface.

Thank you @StephenB

I see ‘Library’, devices, mode , etc… My app version is a lil older —- I’ve been holding off on the update since I’ve seen so many complaints about the new app version upgrade.

Are ‘feed’ ‘dashboard’ in a new app version or am I missing sometjing else?

Appreciate the input.

Yes it's on the newer version but you can still set it to record a specified time on the okddr version of the app.

Wish I could figure out my issue but it's so far a weird enigma.
