I receive notifications that motion is detected but the only videos I see are from my Pro 2 camera which has had free recording since I got like years ago. How do I access these recordings from the other 3 cameras I have? I am on the same network and I know I set up the local storage correctly.

Are the problem cameras connected via the arlo hub or direct to the local wifi?

Where are you seeing the pro2 recordings? Library or the hub backup storage?

When I onboarded caneras I connected to the hub. How can I double-check that? I am looking at the Feed. There is no option to view the recordings anywhere on the local storage screen. See the attached pictures of the local storage. there is no option there to view recordings.

Only an arlo moderator is able to view the images before they can be allowed to be shown to everyone.

Check the device list under settings to see if all the cameras are listed under the base/hub.

The backup storage recordings are located in the hub device settings menu.

I dont have settings menu in my ios app. I see on the buttom of the screen "feed", "devices", "emergency", "routines", "dashboard". When I tap on devices and tap on SmartHub I see paired devices and under it I see all the cameras/doorbells.

when I hit local storage I see

 -Storage sattus - good

 - Available storage - 20.91 GB used of 28 GB

- Best local recording - this is turned on

- overwrite automatically - this is turned on

- view recordings - turned on

-port forwarding - disabled

at the bottom of this screen two red buttons

-safely eject local storage

- format USB device

That's the wrong place to look for local recordings.

You should be seeing them when you

  1. go to devices
  2. select the smarthub
  3. press "Storage Settings"

Though of course you did take that path when you set up local storage.

You do need to make sure that the phone is connected to your home wifi, since you have port forwarding disabled.

I also suggest looking at the camera rules in the mode(s) you are using, and making sure the cameras are listed there, and set to record.

As @DannyBearAgain says, you will see a list of the cameras connected to the smarthub when you

  1. go to devices
  2. select the smarthub

When I go to  "Storage Settings" I see

Record Locally - this is turned ON

Local Steerage Settings  - when I click here I see various options such as storage status , space used etc

nothing below these two

I have 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz networks. How do I know which one smart hub is connected?

The smarthub is connected with ethernet.  Your phone can reach it on either wifi network.  But you won't be able to access anything when your phone is only connected to your mobile data network.

Local recordings are shown right below this setting.

make sense. My SmarthHub is connected via ethernet and my iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and I have record locally turned on but below when you have thumbnails of your local recordings i don't have anything there. I know it is recording because i get notifications. I wonder if I should just reformat my USB

If the Pro 2 cameras are also connected to the same smarthub, then you should be seeing local recordings from those cameras too.

FWIW, you don't know that it is recording, you just know you are getting notifications.  If you can examine the USB stick in a PC, then a good next step is to eject it from the app, and then take a look at what is on it (connecting it to the PC).

So this is an access problem, and not a recording problem.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

Do you use a VPN on the phone?

if you haven't tried power cycling the base, then maybe try that first.

If that doesn't help, then I think that reinstalling the app would be a good next step.

Alternatively, if you have another phone or tablet, you could try doing an install on that, and then log in using the same credentials.

Interesting.  Is the iPad running the same version of the app?

I'm tagging @JamesC in case he wants to follow up.

Are you running iOS 18?  Or (like me) still on iOS 17.7?

@StephenB Hey thanks for help on this.  I didn't get much help on the ticket I submitted to Arlo about access to local storage. They kept running me in circles asking same questions depending who was responding to the ticket.

After some poking around I was able to get it working on the iPhone once I connected the hub directly to my router.  Previously the hub was connected to the switch.

It is weird that while it was connected to the switch it worked on my iPad but not on the iPhone. As soon as I connected it to the router it worked on both.

BTW . how do you clear badge notifications on the Arlo app on iOS? I have about 350 of them in that red circle but only way to clear it was to just not show badges on the app.

Going to the Feed page should clear them on the device you are using (but not any others you might use).  I say "should" because handling badge counters correctly seems to be something that frequently breaks in the iOS app.

That is very weird.  Does the problem come back when you move the smarthub to back to the switch?

Local storage is not accessible via Feed but rather you have to go devices-hub-local storage and it shows right under it

When I move hub back to switch I see only same videos that were there before I made a switch.  New videos were not there.  I seen similar issues with my garage opener. It just wouldn't work unless I plugged it directly into the router.

I did another test while I am here inside of my house. This is what I have found.

iPad - I am at my house and  connected to my WiFi - getting all my recordings on my local storage

iPhone - I am at my house BUT WiFi is turned OFF on my iPhone - getting all new recordings on my local storage

I dont have any port forwarding and hub is connected to my modem now. Is this suppose to be working this way??
