Got this latest Android version 5.2.2_28766.  First change I notice is duplicating local storage to a separate tab under FEED, which is making better sense.

Do we know if it fixes any issue?  Say geofencing?

It creates more issues. Honestly, this company can't ever get  things right, can it? On Android. Upon starting the app - no access to local storage at first.

yes, I was just saying this too early.

Now, even Devices >> Base > Storage Settings fails.

And then this new  Feed >> Local fails as well.

In a nutshell: the new app has not enhanced the user experience, but instead introduced additional bug, STOPPING service that used to be at least working.

FWIW, I didn't lose access to local storage when I got this app (I am using the iOS version).

so are you now able to access local storage from both of:

  • Device >> hub >> Storage Settings
  • Feed >> Cloud

On Apple it's ok. On Android, it's not working as it should. Also, it displays yesterday's recordings and there is no possibility to change that.

@BrookeN can you tell us please why Arlo is *yet again* releasing a version/product that hasn't been tested? I've spent too much money on this system to just simply get rid of it, and I strongly object to being used as a tester and to be given these half baked versions! Would you please send this feedback to Arlo's development team and whoever, if anyone, is in charge of it?

yes, checked with my wife's iPhone too.

Simply agile development without testing, and becoming FRagile.

Well,

  • Device >> hub >> Storage Settings
  • Feed >> Local

Again, that is with the iOS app.  Apparently there is a problem with Android.

No, I have no info about Arlo development and test processes.

Like everyone here, I am troubled by the ongoing quality issues and the obvious gaps in the "Feed" interface.

I have only Android and like @StephenB I have access to local videos with both hub storage settings as well as in Feed. I just tried it again with no issues. That doesn't mean there may not be problems but my first suggestion would be to either reboot the phone or at least force stop the app and try again.

@jguerdat

1st issue:

Remove the app from memory. Wait a few minutes. Open the app. Go directly to Feed. Select 'Local'. What do you see? (Mine shows 'no videos for today' or something to that effect, then after a few seconds all videos load.)

I have Android 14. Moto Edge.

2nd issue:

Remove the app from memory. Open the app. Go to 'Add a device' in the top right corner. Cancel adding a device. Are your tiles black?

looks like this has been resolved.  From my android here, I can see local storage both from Feed >> Local and Devices >> hub >> storage settings.

Thanks.

I don't see that here on my Pixel 6 with Android 15. I do see a lengthy circling circle while loading from the hub which seems like that would be the same thing. I do currently have ~22GB of storage used on my SD card so that may explain the length of pause before display.

Only for about the same time as it takes for when first opening the app. The thumbnails load quickly after maybe 2-3 seconds (didn't actually time it).
