Arlo will not accept my phone number using two step verification process. No idea why first time user

Go to Settings, your profile (the top selection), Login Settings, Two-Step Verification and verify the SMS phone number. I note that mine has the country code (1 for the US) as the first number and has only numbers.

Alternatively, you can choose to use email instead of text to get the authentication code.
