I bought Arlo essential Camera and activated it on my account, but my 3 months Trial didn’t activate as well. How can I activate it?

You could upgrade the base station to a smarthub (VMB4540 or VMB5000), and then use direct access to local storage. https://kb.arlo.com/000062337/What-is-Direct-Storage-Access-and-how-do-I-use-it
There are several limitations you need to be aware of:
- direct access is only via the app (not the web browser)
 - direct access is not available to friend accounts
 - manual recordings are not possible
 - there are no thumbnails
 - it can be tricky to get direct access working when you are away from home (either port forwarding or a VPN is needed).
 
As far as alternative cameras go, the Pro 2 model is the most recent one that supports cloud recording w/o a subscription. Essential, Ultra, and Pro 3/Pro4 models do not.
