Just got a notification that the subscription of the Arlo Secure Plan is being increased yet again.  What I find appaling is the fact that the company tries to justify the price increase with all these new features yet the increase for the monthly subscription option is a significant $8/month unless you want to pay for a full year in advance which is what many companies are doing to lock you in.  I remember just a couple of years ago I was paying $9.99/mo which will now be double for the same quality equipment I can get with many of their competitors.  So, what I will do instead is cancel my subscription and trash the cameras and switch to something better and more reasonable priced.  This is not to offer the end users more features but to price gouge and be greedy.

Thank you all for the feedback. On January 3rd Arlo has updated subscription plans and pricing to enhance the Arlo Secure experience, doubling cloud video storage, and making new AI-powered capabilities available to all subscribers in the US. We have simplified into two plans to allow you to easily identify which features are right for your security needs.

For more information on the new Arlo Secure plans, available now, see https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlosecure.html

Should have bailed after last price increase because system performance has never lived up to expectations and overpriced at $9.99!

You're right! Mine says renews May 3rd 2025 at $154.59. I'm screenshotting this and saving it so if they do anything different, I have proof of my current terms.

I've been an "Arlo fan boy" so to speak. I've always defended Arlo on Reddit where people are tearing Arlo apart. After receive that Email, I believe enough is enough. My subscription is canceled and a new system will be ordered this afternoon.

✌🏼 Arlo

ANOTHER massive price hike from Arlo - this time up 54% from $12.99 to $19.99 / month.

Too much even with the new "features".  At least they are offering 12 months pre-pay at the old rate...

but if you look at the history there have been huge increases every year!  Not worth it.  Cancelling!

Hopefully enough people cancel that they get the hint - "enough is enough" already!

I'm gonna be keeping an eye on matter compatible cameras, I don't wanna be tied down to a provider anymore either - so they can pull this BS

Very very very disappointed in the changing of the rate structure.  If not for the holidays, and being distracted with things like work, I would have changed my plan last month.  Instead, Ill be forced to pay an already high amount each month for 1 year then have an increase.  Arlo is yet another American business taking more and more and more from its customers... ENOUGH.  I will trash the cameras, and just pay for a security service for not much difference in price.

Thanks for the tip about Eufy. I'll be switching too, and CANCELLING my Arlo subscription. Arlo was great before they got greedy, but these price increases are through the roof - going from $48 to $96 for one video camera? You cannot be serious!!

Same here - Arlo does not care about users, they want to milk the cow for more cash. Disgusting.

The price increase is ridiculous. These features are really not needed. I have my cameras on during the day but I don't need extra storage and all the extra stuff that's coming with this price increase. I've also been on the phone with them all day because since my plan renews on the 1st of the month and this new system no longer accept debit cards, I can't even make a payment. I can't get PayPal to work and my subscription has been canceled until I can figure out something with the bank on Monday. While either on the phone or through chat I kept saying the same thing in 20 different ways. It's been incredibly frustrating and I think I'm just going to look for new cameras since I can't even pay now. I think the main issue is that I need to delete my current payment method but it won't allow you to do that.

Also the customer service is extremely frustrating and the system is always going down or offline anyway.

So mad.  Bait and Switch.  Ridiculous increase. Was already too high at $12.99/Mo. Going to $19.99 ???   I am out.

Has anyone tried the Philips cameras?  They charge a subscription too but what i like about them is the cameras will record for much longer.  Even plugged in, my Arlos stop recording before the captured motion is over.

Do mean Hue? The feedback isn't that great but let's hope Signify improve the firmware - it may be a good contender then. Apple is rumoured to be releasing a camera, too, and other home security products. If that's the case, it'll be a very serious contender in the home security market and expect nothing but competition between Apple, Google and Amazon. I'm not an Apple fan but for this thing alone, I'll turn into one.

(Ironically, the article recommends one gets Arlo, rather than wait until 2026 🫣)

Which system have you decided on?  I've always been an Arlo fan but there too this is ridiculous.  Just curious as to what folks would switch to?

For me after doing some research I’ve decided to go with the eufy cam s3 pro it’s expensive but I figured what I would be paying Arlo it would pay for itself in the long run plus I like it has solar panels NO SERVICE FEES it comes with 16gigs of internal storage but you can add more it does work with Apple home I’m looking on Best Buy’s website

I don't think there is any best system out there.

I do however have some experience with Eufy, I had my best friend get 3 of the s340 pant tilt zoom cams and I am major impressed. He bought them back in October and he has had flawless service from them for 3 solid months now.

The quality and ability to use one cam however that can can cover 2 sections of a house if placed right it VERY cool.

If you guys are undecided I would highly recommend checking the s340s out they seem to be a winner, at least in my eyes.

Not only has Arlo jacked up the subscription fee it’s created a clunky, dysfunctional app that restricts the user’s ability to segregate devices into different groups.   If you can do this, it’s not explained in the app as to how to do it.  I have multiple cameras and I want to segregate them into two groups where I can arm/disarm individual cameras in the respective group while not changing the settings of the separate group.  Example: Group 1 has 7 cameras. I want to be able to arm 5 while 2 remain disarmed.  Or, I can disarm all or arm all.  I want to be able to do this separate from Group 2, which has 7 cameras.  I want to be able to individually select which cameras I want to arm or disarm at any given time. Example: I may want to arm 4 while keeping 3 disarmed, or, disarm all 7, or , arm all 7. I want to be able to do this separate from Group 1 cameras.  I could do this prior to the latest upgrade and this makes this app dysfunctional .  If there is a way to do this then it’s not explained where I can understand how to do this.  I give this latest up grade a score of 1 out of 10 and with the mandatory price increase I give it a  ZERO rating.  Prior to jacking up the price and introducing a dysfunctional app upgrade you should have given existing customers the option to keep what they had or select the upgrade that included a price increase.  If this upgrade can’t be fixed I will be forced to look for another option for my security system.  I have recommended Arlo products to multiple people in the past but I won’t be giving any going forward.

Added a bunch of stuff not at all needed and kept price the same for 2025 but in 2026, multi camera plan gets limited choice AND goes up 43%.  Cannot keep same plan even if you want to.  Blah, blah about new features, its just a shameless money grab.  Another reason to look at what competitors offer.

I have not received any notice yet !!

My secure plan expired on 1-3-2025.  Last year I paid 129.99/year.   The renewal showed to be $150.

So on Jan 2, 2025 I changed from the annual plan to the basic monthly plan for 12.99/mo.

Now I suppose in February it sounds as though it will increase to 19.99/mo.

That is rediculous and I'm glad I switched to the monthly plan so I can cancel Arlo when I get my new cameras determined.  I was looking to change anyway to something like Eufy or ReoLink.

Bye Arlo!

cancelled yesterday.  Cant justify a 50%+ price increase for features I don't need and for cameras 6+ years old.  GFY Arlo

Last year they said it wouldn't happen again, January rolls around and they nearly double the price again. Disgusting.

I'll be switching to Apple Homekit secure compatible cameras.

I do have concerns with cameras operated by Chinese companies, only because the US government publicized warnings for some chip companies in the past, for Spyware.  Not to mention current events.

I don't mean to make the discussion political in any way.  The downside of any new system is I'd have to spend money replacing all my cameras.  And maybe Arlo knows that.

It's a downside indeed, but either way, you'll have to spend money. Whether on the new subscription or new cameras is your choice ultimately. (And not an easy one, so I don't envy you.)

Hello, I bought my arlo camera originally a few years back and payed for the $2.99 USD subscription. I was very happy with that price and the features that it came with...Now after years of incremental increases it is about to go to $10. This is absolutely insane, you want me to pay 120 dollars a year for this extremely basic arlo camera I bought which was cheaper than 100 dollars when i bought it. So im expected to pay more than what my camera is worth a year? WTF? I don't even use any of these new features Arlo is adding with each update... DO NOT BUY ARLO PRODUCTS unless you want to pay 20 dollars a month in several years or just stop paying and make your camera barely function. Using their products without a subscription you're better off just getting an offline CCTV camera for cheaper and not having to pay a monthly sub that is going to increase by 20% each year.
