I have the VM4540. I’ve been able to view local recordings until this week. The apps feed prevents me from viewing any recordings without a subscription. What changed?

I noticed the same thing. The options under the Feed have disappeared. I had to go into the Hub as a device and go under Storage Settings.

This is inconsistent in terms of view-ability until the memory is removed and uploaded to another device. I can the there are recordings actively being saved on the feed screen, but not showing up in the storage settings page. This has been happening since I got the device and stopped using cloud services. Any idea how to remedy this?

At this point I’m so upset with this dysfunctional product that I’m considering moving to Eufy and speaking to a lawyer about false advertising for these Arlo products.

Can you provide some details on what camera models you have (and how many).

I'm having the exact same problem since about a couple of days ago.

My Arlo SmartHub (model VMB4540r2, firmware 1.31.0.0_1953_0493cac) local storage library has stopped showing new recordings, while everything else functions normally.

  • Local Storage Settings shows status "Good" with correct available capacity — the USB drive is detected and healthy.
  • The library only shows entries up to around July 24, 2026 on my iPad (local WiFi) and August 15, 2026 on my iPhone (cellular or Wifi) when looking at it from Devices>BaseStation>Storage Settings, with nothing since. Also, no option to see local storage in the Feed tab.
  • Live video feed works correctly, both on the same WiFi network and remotely over cellular.
  • I do not have an Arlo cloud storage subscription, so only local storage.
  • I have fully power-cycled the hub (unplugged 30+ seconds) — no change.
  • Port forwarding and router configuration are unchanged and correctly set (WAN IP, ports verified) — but I guess this can be ruled out as it happens even on the local network.

Both iPhone and iPad are on Arlo app version 6.40.0 (34112) from August 4, 2026

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have the same issues with my VMB4540r2. I guess Arlo is slowly weeding out their long time customers with no subscription. My Arlos are only wildlife monitors/motion detectors now, placed around my deck or patio watching for mice, raccoons and possum. Glad I have reliable Eufy cams with full features and ZERO monthly fees for security.

Hi all,

It sounds like there are two separate issues being reported in this thread. The symptom where the drop down is stuck Behrind the phones top notch/island is being addresses. The second, recordings missing from local feed is being looked in to.

The first report by @Concerned4U Has been identified and a fix is coming soon.

From my experience, they are now two separate issues. The most recent update (version 6.40.0) caused my Local feed option to not show up on the screen at all. The update before that (I believe 6.38.00?) was where the tabs to switch between feed options were up at the Dynamic Island of an IPhone where the time, signal strength, wifi strength, and battery are.

The symptom your experiencng has been identified and fixed, "Should" hopefully be released in the next app update for iOS. I'll continue to provide updates for you.
