Just to be clear, when the alarm system is NOT ARMED, the ARLO cameras are NOT in record mode - meaning they do NOT capture, record and notify me of anything caught in their view?
In order for the cameras to record, capture and notify me, the alarm MUST be armed, am I correct?

No, it is up to you.
If you have the home security system (or have a Pro 5s camera) - there are three system modes: Armed Home, Armed Away, and Standby. You can edit all these modes to arm the cameras when the system is in that mode if you wish.
