In the Arlo android app I am unable to create an automation that uses "Anyone Leaves" ? There is no option for that. The only option I see is when "Anyone Arrives". Whats going here and why is there no option to set when anyone leaves?

I am on the latest version of the app, ver 6.4.6_6040602

    Hi @bondibro

Thank you for the feedback, This issue should be resolved in app version 6.5.0, which is currently rolling out gradually. Once you’ve updated, please let me know if you’re still able to reproduce the issue.

Thanks for letting me know. This symptom has already been reported, and a fix is currently in the works for a future app update.

The app defaults to Anyone Arrives and at first it appears that's all you can add. However, click on the name ANyone Leaves and that section becomes active for you to choose.

I see people arrive twice, look at this screenshot. Looks like its an issue with the APP WhatsApp Image 2025-10-01 at 10.21.16_2cee0761.jpg

The latest app has made some changes:

  • ARRIVE now must be "anyone arrives" (vs choice of anyone or everyone, in the past).  This is not a show stopper at least for my typical use case scenario, thoughI find this change unnecessary
  • LEAVE now must be "everyone leaves" (vs choice of anyone or everyone, in the past).  This is not a show stopper at least for my use case scenario, though I find this change unnecessary.
  • When "Everyone Leaves" or "Anyone Arrives" is clicked, the app shows 2 sections, each detailing geofencing devices to be considered for geofencing.  This is good move that at least user can tell if ARLO is considering the correct devices for geofencing (vs wrongly repeated geofencing devices in the past)
  • Within this screen showing 2 sections, the lower section is incorrectly labelled.  It should be labelled "People Leave", instead of "People Arrive".  Apparently they haven't got any testing team to even check out the changes (not to mention about testing)

Whatever good or bad points above, BASIC GEOFENCING ROUTINES ARE STILL NOT WORKING RELIABLY.

Correct, how can they not even check the labels so this works as expected. The app is of poor quality and its clear they care very little if they can't even get the labels right.

FWIW, I am not seeing this bit on iOS.

Unfortunately, it's true on Android. @JamesC , @ShayneS , @BrookeN would you please look into this?

this is a lowest priority fix.  please focus on fixing geofencing, which has never been working reliably.  GEOFENCING BUG IS A SHOW STOPPER.

I think the problem is more than just the second one being labeled incorrectly as People Arrive when it should be People Leave.  I appears to actually trigger a People Arrive automation as when I leave my mode show that Standby was triggered instead of Arm Away, even though it was already in Standby when I left.

Geofencing will never be fixed.  I gave up.

I was told it's my problem... even tho other apps on my phone work fine for geofencing features and knows where I am and somehow can retry getting to the home server using a weak signal.

If you are experiencing symptoms outside of the original post issue, please start a new thread so I can look into the symptoms you are experiencing specifically about arrive/leave.

@ShayneS , I have my log for geofencing issues reported separately in "Correct schedule switch to ARM AWAY ..." .  Kindly advise the contact point for this.

When is this rolling out? how long does it take to fix something fundamental like this? It seems to me like you are intentionally alienating your customers.

From my experience to date, the cameras and particularly the software is laughable and utter garbage.

hi @bondibro , if you are referring to the wrong label which should have been saying "People leave" (instead of "people arrive"), I see that it has been fixed with my app 6.5.0 here.  See my other reply to your screenshot.

Having said that, if your issue was acutally ARLO app's failure to operate/set up geofencing routine for people leave, I am afraid you need to be specific with the issue, well, again.  (FYI, I don't see even this latest 6.5.0 fixing anything regarding the geofencing feature.)

Hope this helps.

above was just issue with the wordings.  Lower section DOES work for "people leave".  And with app 6.5.0 here, the wording has been fixed too (green circle below).  See mine here:

hi @bondibro @cwinters , Android 16 on Google Pixel 6a here.  This is the screenshot of my Android ARLO app 6.5.0 here:

I understand that ARLO has been releasing the same app version gradually.  Who first, I have no idea.  But I do have android 6.5.0 here, for quite some time.

As mentioned, this app version is in a slow roll-out phase and not all users will receive the update right away. Once the update is available to you, please let me know if you still experience the symptom above and I will investigate.
