Worked like a charm on the old APP but since i got the new one i can not get geofence to work when leaving the house.
If i test the feature when outside the geofence it works, coming home works, but when we leave our house it stays on home.  What to do?

Check the Leave settings for what phones are being used for geofencing. You may have some old phones listed that need to be deleted or otherwise not used (by using Specific People Leave). Make sure all phones have opened the app in the past 2 weeks, minimum. Logged out phones will cause GF to fail. Make sure all phones' settings for the app allows location services to be used all the time.

Let us know your results.

I get three iphones just listed as ”iphone” even though they are named for eg ”Bjorns iphone” but we are only two users living here so i guess one is an old one.

If i include the third phone the it does not work if we leave home and ”test automatisation”

and the strange thing is that it works one way, if i set it to away when i am away and then go home, it changes to ”home” but not the other way around.

That is because "Leave" triggers when all the devices leave (no one is home).  But  "arrive" triggers when one device returns (someone is home). So the phantom device prevents "Leave" from working.

You can manage this by pressing the profile button in the top left of the app.  Then select "Privacy Center", and choose the "Account" tab at the top.  You will see "Available geofence devices" - press on that.  Your phone will be listed first.  Rename it.

Then go to the second phone, and do the same steps.

Now you will be able to tell which device is the phantom one.  Remove it from the list of available devices.

@Bjorn113  are you having the following:

  • all users' devices logging in the SAME main ARLO account (ie NOT the "sharing access between multiple ARLO accounts" approach)
  • all phantom geofencing devices removed (as advised by @StephenB )

I see above as important starting pointing to get geofencing (well, sort of) working.

I say "sort of" here, because with all the best measures I think I have employed with my ARLO app here, geofencing is just working often, but not always.

Hi! I found that setting, removed the old phone and named the two we use. Tried both ”everyone leaves” and ”specific person leaves” marking both of us but the issue remains the same.

Arm away does not engage, but if i change it manually arm

home works when we arrive home🤔🤔

There is a setting in the app that tells it to send geofencing notifications whenever that phone enters or leaves the radius.  If you have an iPhone, you go into the Apple settings and navigate to Apps->Arlo Secure.  You'll see "Location In/Out Notifications" at the bottom.  I don't know where this is found in the Android app.

Enabling these notifications can help sort out which of the phones isn't triggering when you leave.

Seems to be working now. Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be a similar option in Android although in the phone's app settings, under Notifications, Geofencing is enabled, the selection is for the notification to be silent. I have switched that for testing but will have to wait to leave the house.

FWIW, it is in an odd place in iOS.  It's in General->Apps->Arlo Secure.  All the other settings there are permissions (Microphone, etc).  At the bottom of the page is the Location In/Out Notifications control.

Well, my little experiment was a bust - didn't make any difference. I looked all over my phone's settings for the app and don't see anything similar to the iOS one so it appears it's not needed (or can't be added).

It's certainly not needed.  It's just useful for debugging, since it lets you see when the system thinks each phone has crossed the radiis.

You could set up the same thing using automations.

This will be very useful for debugging!  Are you able to share more details (say screenshots) regarding how it works?

On an iPhone, the setting is in apple settings->apps->arlo secure

An automation for "Arrive" that does the same things would be

arrive notify.jpg

Thanks.  Will above notification be sent out, irrespective of whatever geofencing routine within the app?

Above is what I want to troubleshoot --- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  So I don't find above useful for troubleshooting purpose.  But thanks again anyhow.
