Retention depends on your subscription. In most places it is 30 days. In Europe, if you have Arlo Secure Plus it is increased to 60 days. Of course you can also delete cloud recordings using the app or my.arlo.com.
Local storage is retained until the smarthub needs to space for another recording. The app only shows the last 30 days of retention, but often is more actually stored. You need to eject the storage using the app, and connect it to a PC to check for that.
