I am thinking about getting an Arlo Q and want to understand what is involved in getting a second phone so that it can access the phone. I've searched through all the help and FAQs and can't find any information about this. My daughter owns an Arlo Q and I thought as a test to see how the app worked I'd try to connect to her camera.

I meant to say get a second phone to access the camera.

Two ways....

1)Have your daughter give you the user name / password and log in from the app as normal with multi devices... down side is if one device is logged in the new one logging in bumps them off. Also you would be able to have full settings access.

2) Have your daughter grant you "friend" access under SETTINGS > GRANT ACCESS > add  ( then filling in email/password,etc ). Access control can be limited.

Thanks for the helpful reply. I have one further question: I think you are implying that my daughter is the one who creates the username and password for me and then gives them to me, correct? Or is there a way for me create my own login credentials?

On another note (and tell me if I should start a new thread for this) if I were to have cameras at two different houses, would I be able to get email and push notifications for both? Would one account work or would I have to set up two accounts with different login credentials and log in and out of them to switch between one account and the other?

Thanks.

I think you are implying that my daughter is the one who creates the username and password

What I meant was that she could just give you the user/password for her account that was already set up.....

OR

You could be added to her account as a "friend" or guest in which case she enters you name and email and sends you an INVITE to view .... you will get a confirm email from her.

You can have multiple bases under the same account ( and also have them in two locations ) The real limit in this case is based on the number of cameras. ( no limit on bases )

The basic ( free ) level is 5 cameras max with 7 days storage, so if you had 2 locations with  2 bases( one at each location ) and =<5 cameras total, they would be viewable under the same account using one login/password ... doesn't matter as to pushes / email they would go to the account email / devices ( you can have mutli email adresses for each camera if desired )

IN my case, I send notices to my email and ( instead of pushes ), SMS (text messgs ) to my phone using my cell providers cell # to email format. ( i just like the way my phone handles SMS over email )

The next two service levels cost, but allow 10 cameras and then 15 ( additonal to the extra cameras is the # of days videos are stored.. 30 and 60 days )

Hope this answers your questions.

Thanks again for your help. I have one more question (I think). As I mentioned, my daughter has an Arlo Q so she has an account for it. I am thinking of buying one for our second house that my daughter also stays at. Is there a way for her to be able to access her Arlo Q on her account and our Arlo Q on our account? Or is the only way that we could make things work would be to set up our Arlo Q in her account and then have her give us guest priveleges so that we could access the camera in our house?

Thanks.

Because the accounts are different, the only thing to do is to use the Grant Access capability.  Otherwise, she'd have to log out of her account and log into yours to switch between cameras.  AT least with the guest account, everything would show up in one view.
