Hi guys,
I have been trying to setup my Arlo Q camera. It is added to the app, but I get no live streaming when I try to play it. I am given an error of 'failure to connect to the media server' from my iPhone and from my PC. However, I get all the notifications for audio and motion detected. Moreover, if I go to the video settings I am able to see the snapshot taken at that instant.
I tried the same camera and the same router from another location, same ISP and I am able to get the video just fine. I have contacted support and they told me to check port 80 and 443 being open on the router. I setup the port forwarding rule, but still did not succeed to see live video. I was told to check whether the ports were open or not, but I get a connection closure on both ports. Btw the same ports result closed also on the other location, where the camera works just fine and I didn't have to setup any port forwarding. Any idea what I am dealing with here please?

Thanks all in advance!
Gerry

It would seem that the only other possibility would be the modem although I've never heard of that being an issue. For completeness, try rebooting the modem.

Those ports are outgoing ports and shouldn't be open for incoming traffic. If you use cell service does everything work?

Try rebooting your router - might be that simple.

Hi Guru,

I have tried with mobile data only, no luck. And yes I did a reboot of the router. Still nothing...

It turned out it was indeed the modem provided by my local ISP. I call them and they eventually found out a misconfiguration in the VLANs and after fixing it from their end the camera started to work and show the video!
