How close-up in inches can teh Arlo Q focus?

At least aprox 16 inches...may be closer
( looking thru glass at bushes in focus )

It's practically infinite. The Q lens equates to a 10mm focal length for 35mm or full frame DSLRs and is working on a much sampler sensor. Both will impact depth of field to the point that you almost need to be in physical contact with the lens to be out of focus.

I need to be able to focus down to a distance of about 6 inches from the front of the camera lens.

You'd need to test to verify that distance. It may be fuzzy since these are really meant to work at a distance.
