Just purchased the Arlo Pro, after debating whether to go with a wired camera system.  So far it looks like a great piece of technology.  I want to put up my first several cameras outside, and I want to use the half ball magnet bases, but I am having trouble figuring out how to screw them into the location where I want to place it.  It seems that the back plate on the ball WILL NOT detach, so the only way to attach the ball base is to hang it on the head of drilled in screw into the wood facia, or wherever.  Seems pretty cheesy to me, since the security of the camera 'hang' on that one screw head.  It looks like there is no way to tighen down the base to the facia.

CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS ONE TO ME?  Thanks.

You slowly tighten the screw and then push the base over same ...if done in small amounts it will be tight.

But , placement is critical to good response, you may want to make sure the camera works well in location...after, I used double stick molding tape (3M ) on the half ball and pressed it over the screw ...never coming loose

I agree that the half balls are pretty limited in their usefulness. I bought 3 of the ceiling/table mounts and they have a detachable base that you screw into place before clicking the ball part on. I also used one of the screw mounts but then found I could mount the camera to a metal pole without the mount as the magnet worked with it
