This make me wonder if I made a bad decision when I purchased ARLO. This is really a security issue.

I don't see how IFTTT not working correctly with ARLO is a security issue. Forget IFTTT and just get Smartthings or a similar product. Works great.

I have had my Arlo cameras set up with IFTTT.com for some time, such that when they detect motion they turn the Philips Hue lights to bright in my garden. This worked fine for some time. However, for a few weeks they have not been triggering the IFTTT applet. The Philiips Hue lights work fine in other IFTTT applets, so it seems like the problem is the Arlo-IFTTT link. I tired unlinking and re-linking Arlo from IFTTT, but this did not solve the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this change? And can anyone offer and potential solutions to get this working again?

Many thanks in advance!

willandstephie,

IFTTT is currently investigating this issue. Take a look here for more information and updates: Incident Report for IFTTT

I have tried this several times. Fails with Trigger failed. There was a problem with the Arlo service. Trying to use detect motion.

I believe this is something that Netgear broke on their end when they implemented the support for Alexa. I opened a support case with them and man there is a major disconnect between the engineers and the front line support. Given there has been zero acknowledgement from Netgear I don't think they really care about fixing this. Its sad that they don't understand how customers use their product. The service has as been broken for almost a month now.

1) ITFF has been down for a month with not a word from Netgear on when it will be fixed.

2) Called in to get a replacement washer for an outdoor mount. 30 minute wait time to speak to a foreigner with bad English then asked me many details as if I am trying to steal a washer. Finally, after talking to her for an hour, was told I would get a call back. That's bad service and a big one against Netgear. Horrible IMO.

OK. I have found something that works. You can use Stringify with the IFTTT Phone call app and it works well. It takes just a couple of seconds before the phone rings. The two screens are shown below. Modify as needed.

Yes, same problem. Failure is, my phone does not sound when motion is triggered. IFTTT says 'Applet Failed'. The nice thing about how it used to work, my selected iPhone sound would play even with 'Do Not Disurb' enabled. Slick. Regardless of Privacy setting, Applet Fails. Please resolve.

IFTT hasn't been working for two months. This has gone on far too long. When can we expect a fix? Please post update here as to WHEN it will be fixed and the REASON for the delay rather than an acknolwedgement that is is down. We already know it is down. We are looking for WHEN it will be fixed and a valid reasonable REASON for when it will be fixed. Netgear is a a publicly listed company with a market capitilazation of $1.43 billion. I don't see why it takes two months to fix something given the size of your company.

Chat responder had me jump thru hoops to test, delete and recreate applets across multiple computing devices... apparently no clue that this is a long term, well known issue.  Netgear needs to escalate this problem and communicate to their Customers... the silence is deafening.

Yes, I agree that a response/ fix from NetGear is taking too long...

My Wemo Light Switches do not activate via IFTTT anymore when Arlo is triggered....

Coincidentally, Arlo is about to release a "smart light" that can be connected to Arlo base....

I suspect NetGear is purposely not fixing the IFTTT interface to force users like me to buy this "light" product....

Greedy!

So NetGear fix the issue - and maybe I will buy more of your product!

Here's a work-around using Stringify and IFTTT. This works very well.

IF you want it fixed then file a complaint with the BBB. Nothing is gonna happen as nothing has happened since Sep. NG doesnt respect you enough to act right away so you have to force them do so IMO.

I doubt that is the case.  Why they would do this before their light even came out, wouldn't make sense.

Also there is still a huge market of folks who haven't yet gotten into IOT and home automation who would be happy to find a vertically integrated offering once they have it; rather than try to force existing customers to their solution by breaking IFTTT before they even roll it out.  If they're going to break IFTTT it would make a lot more sense to first come out with a broad portfolio of integrated products (external sirens, other motion sensors, door/window sensors, switches and sockets etc), before discontinuing support for IFTTT, then capture the still huge market of new folks.  Frankly, I would find this very appealing - everything controlled in the Arlo app itself.  Even if they kept IFTTT support for the sake of devices they don't make, there's still a value in one company providing many devices all controlled in one app than gluing them together with another one.

Also, Stringify still works with Arlo.  If this was a conscious effort why not break Stringify and others too?

I'm more inclined to think it's just plain incompetence.

As of 11/15/17: Sill nothing resolved or any 'new' news. Just reports of the ARLO app failed. Disappointing to say the least.

Reading through this string is disappointing. I recently bought an Arlo Pro 2, and am reasonably satisfied with the performace of the camera itself, but Arlo's response to the IFTTT Applet failures shows a total lack of concern for their existing user community. Their product pages clearly state "Plays Well Others: Works with Amazon Alexa, IFTTT & Stringify". With respect to IFTTT, this is clearly false. Makes me question their other claims as well. If they don't make this "right" soon, I'll be switching over to another camera manufacturer for the remainder of my project. This issue was first posted on 9/24. It is now 11/15, with no Arlo response other than acknowledging it as an issue, pretty pathetic.

I'm having this problem as well. Does Arlo NG interact with users here? I don't see anything helpful except try another services stringify...

It sure feels  like NG's position is 'If we just ignore these people, eventually they will just go away. There's no point in wasting time Replying to any of this in any way."

Thanks for the BBB link. Just filed my complaint. Everyone else should do the same.
