Hi!
I'm trying to record 4-6hrs of continuous video in a room with a home based business for liability purposes. Strangely, Netgear makes this harder than seemingly necessary. I have an Arlo Pro system with 2 TB local USB storage and 7 day free plan, and I just purchased an Arlo Q. I didn't realize the Arlo Q or even Q Plus did not connect to the Pro Base for local storage. That said, it also appears that even the Q Plus won't use local SD storage for CVR, only event based videos for the local SD card.
That said, I'm wondering if anyone has run AC power to a Arlo Pro cam, and then armed it in a room that had continuous motion, thus triggering event based recording over and over again (in my case, for 4-6 hours). Since it's connected to AC power, I don't need to worry about battery drain. Since the Pro is connected to the base, I have 2 TBs of local storage, which would give me more than enough history. I do understand this would surpass the 1 GB cloud storage, but I'm assuming it would just delete the earliest recording once it hits the 1 GB threshold.
Anyone else do this or have suggestions?
Thanks!
Chad

The Pro will record IF IT SEES MOTION...at the end of the set time, thereis a reset time before the camera will detect motion if it still continues... the time between recordings is about 10-25 seconds
If this is ok, then fine ...the Pro will not do 24/7 or continuous for more than 30 min if manually started either
As to the 1gb storage , Netgear has not enforced the limit in almost 2 yrs now.

I recorded from a Q for a bit over an hour and it took something well over 1GB. Continuous recording would quickly fill many devices. While a large (2TB) device would last a long time, you still have the issue of having to remove the drive to be able to see it, not to mention limitations on file size and the need to overwrite as the drive fills.
