Model: Arl Pro VMS4430

I live in WI and can be gone for 2 months over the Winter when the temperature can get to 25 below zero? Hence bringing indoors to charge is not an option.

1. Can I leave the power adapter plugged in to charge my Arlo Pro camera's outdoors (will be in garage, so it will not get wet)?

2. Can I remove the battery and just run on ac power? I read on another post I may be able to use a standard USB cord and 5v adapter if I am not trying to charge the battery but it was not clear if the camera would perform correctly.

Thank you,

Bob

You can run the camera from the charger but the issue is whether the camera is outdoors since the connection to the camera has to be sealed to prevent moisture from getting in. The outdoor power supplies are being recalled since there have been meltdowns and at least one fire and they had a seal on them that the indoor cables don't have.

A 5V charger of 2A will work fine (1.5A may be adequate) to run the camera. To charge requires a Qualcomm Quick Charge charger that supplies 9v at 1.5A. If you're using 3rd party chargers and cables, be sure to use quality devices and cables. Cheap cables use small wires that can be a real problem. I like to use cables rated for quick charging.

Edit: A side note is that the Pro cameras stop working at -4F although there's the thought that running without a battery installed may let them run at lower temps. The battery won't charge under 32F.
