I've had 2 Arlo Pro cameras for 2 years and just purchased an Arlo 2 Pro. I also pay $99 a year for the extra storage. Even though I did just purchase a new camera, I must say that these cameras have not been helpful for me at all.

One of my Arlo Pro cameras is on my front porch and is hard-wired. It usually picks up and records EVERYTHING from cars passing by, birds, insects and people who walk past my house. Below, I will list some occasions where the cameras recorded absolutely nothing when I really needed them:

1 - A dog pooped in my front yard and the camera saw nothing. I'm sure a person was walking their dog and did this because people are always walking their dogs in front of my house. The camera had a clear view of where the incident occurred and usually records when movement is in that area.

2 - Someone placed a neighborhood watch sign right in my front yard, but the cameras saw and recorded nothing. The camera should have seen this.

3 - Recently, we had car breaks-ins in my area and a lot of people were hit. We left our garage door up and they got into my wife's car stealing her purse. I'm not sure if they walked in front of my home, but a neighbor's Ring camera showed that the thieves were simply walking up and down the street trying to get into every car in site. Our camera recorded nothing.

4 - About 4 months ago, thieves got into my truck. I left my truck unlocked. They didn't take much (pocket change) but my camera should have captured something. A neighbors Ring camera showed the person walking right in front of my house.

5 - There was an occasion where a neighbor's car across the street from me was hit. They wanted me to check my camera. My camera didn't have any footage. What bothered me is that my camera appeared to have recorded almost every other car that had passed in front of my house that day. I know I didn't purchase my camera to detect incidents at other people's homes, but I just find it frustrating that my camera seems to pick up cars all the time except for the time when there was an accident.

I'm not sure why my cameras have been so unreliable for me, but it is very frustrating. They seem to record everything except for the stuff that happens when I need them most.

Hi @esgeeskee,

We appreciate you telling us your experience with your Arlo Pro.

Try to re-position your Arlo Pro to see if that helps with your camera detect motion properly. Also try using the motion detection test to make sure your camera is able to detect motion. Here are some articles you can try referencing to help you out:
