Arlo Pro response is too slow to be considered a camera for security.

If you have all the time in the world and your property and life are not a major concern. The Arlo Pro and Pro 2 will work just fine. Otherwise, I would advise you consider something else for security. These devices are good consumer novelty items but I wouldn't consider them personal or property security devices. First of all, they are incredibly slow to respond either manually when trying to view a camera or when triggered by motion to record. Typically I'm left with an unusable image because the recording starts too long after the motion was detected. The 3 second record ahead doesn't really help to resolve the slow response either. Now, if an intruder is tip-toeing in front of the camera and taking their sweet time committing a crime, then you may have a decent video. However, I can walk up to my door triggering the sensor, unlock both locks with a key and enter without the Arlo recording a worthy video of my activity. Typically its just a brief image of me entering, not the unlocking of the door. Also, forget about viewing on Amazon Fire TV. Doorbell rings. "Alexa - show front door". Doorbell rings again, and again. 10-12 seconds later there is a live video of just a doormat because the visitor already walked away. I could have already put on my slippers, went downstairs, and peeked through the curtains. I would expect much better on a gigabit network especially since I use wired Ethernet opposed to Wi-Fi to connect the Arlo base and my Fire TV Cube. To make matters worse. When I receive an alert on my phone and use the app to view the camera live, I have to put my safety on hold and view a sales Ad first. That's not what I would expect from a system marketed for security.
