Ok I just connected my 4 cameras after having them in storage for over 3 years. I purchased new batteries and they were working fine. I added a essential spotlight camera and now they stopped recording. I am now reading up on the bad news about the 7 day cloud ending. I will return those 3 essential spotlight cameras I just purchased asap if they only function on a subscription. But as for my old Pro cameras, should I not continue getting the 7 day free cloud storage? About ready to toss all this crap in the trash can.

Try removing the new cameras from your account and check if the older cameras begin recording.

I have read other users have had to do similar workarounds to get past the arlo subscription blocking.

It hasn't ended.  Arlo reversed that decision in response to customer anger.  Current details on EoL are here:

There is a limit of 5 unsubscribed cameras per account on the free storage.  You mention only 4 legacy cameras though, so adding just one Essential shouldn't have changed anything.  Plus the Essential would have automatically gotten a trial subscription, so if you are in a country where Arlo offers subscriptions there shouldn't have been any impact on the legacy cameras.

Have you tried making a manual recording while livestreaming?
